obsessed part 2
They are just about done with our siding! Just a few touch-ups tomorrow morning and they say they'll be finished.

even more house updates
Don't roll your eyes at me! I have already admitted to being obsessed with the progress being made to our house :)
Despite being almost 100 degrees today, our contractors were hard at work!
The siders still say they hope to be done tomorrow - so we'll see. It's doable I think, but it's supposed to be another hot one.

I was so surprised to come home and find the front of our house finished!
And our patio! It looks a.w.e.s.o.m.e! Now we only need some patio furniture...

So our siding contractors did NOT work through the weekend - though I can't blame them since it was approaching 90 degrees both days, not including the heat index. Yesterday they came and replaced our front and side entry doors. The new ones look awesome! Of course, they wouldn't install the hardware because that "wasn't a part of our original agreement". *insert eyeroll* My wonderful husband left that for me to do when I got home from work while he was working on putting up trim around all the doors. Of course, as someone who thinks I know how to do everything, I didn't read the directions carefully and I put a hole in our front door that I promptly realized I drilled in the wrong spot. Not a huge deal - nothing a little putty can't fix!
Regardless of that mishap, the new doors look great and I can't wait to paint them! I have Friday off so I was hoping to do it then, but then Tim reminded me that the contractors would probably be working, so maybe on Sunday.
Our masonry guys started yesterday as well - they came and dug-out/leveled the ground where our patio will be going (and apparently dug it all manually!). He told Tim that they could be finished with the patio in one day, but since they won't be able to move to the front work until the siders are done, they will probably take their time with the patio. I'm sure they'll be happy for the shortened work days with this heat (it's supposed to approach 100 today - it was already 75 and very humid when I left for work at 7am).

it's official, I'm obsessed
with our new siding. It's amazing what you get excited over when you're married and own a home.
I just love comparing the before and after pictures. I mean, just look at the difference! I didn't realize just how crappy our old siding looked until seeing this: (if you click on it, it will bring to an enlarged version)
AND - the contractor told Tim last night that he plans on being completely finished by Wednesday - he's even working through the weekend! Stay tuned later today for pictures of their work from yesterday and today :)

siding progress #2
The siders have been working very hard this week (yay!). The back of our house is about 99% done right now (they just have to finish around the new outlet by the patio door). Today they did the back dormer and it looks awesome! Don't mind the scaffolding that they left up.
We're hoping that between tomorrow and Friday that they will finish off the other side (the right side, if you're looking at the back) and then all they'll have left is the front (including the new front doors). And our landscaper mentioned possibly coming tomorrow but I'm not sure if he will or not, unless he plans on starting the patio out back. We'll see!

siding progress
For the past 2 weeks our contractor has been working on ripping down our old siding and today he started putting up the new vinyl siding! I'm in Dallas for work until tomorrow, so Tim sent me this picture (via the new love of his life - his new iPhone) of some of their progress:
For reference, here is a before picture (taken after the new windows were installed, hence the messiness around the windows):
Hopefully by the time I get home from Texas tomorrow even more will be finished!

family room and siding
When I last posted, our family room was still in shambles from the window installation and new paint. Well it's all finished now and looks great!!
Right now we're working on our kitchen windows and the breezeway windows. We have 18 windows in, only 6 more to go! Up next this weekend will hopefully be our bedroom windows.
We also hired our siding contractor and he should be starting in a few weeks. We're really excited to have this done - our house will look brand new!! We've decided to go with a "Flagstone" color with white trim and red doors. Here is a picture of the Flagstone color on a different house:
